The cyst wall is composed predominantly of dense fibrocollagenous connective tissue intermixed with intersecting bundles of smooth muscle. The internal lining of the cyst appears largely attenuated or denuded, lacking a well-preserved, epithelial layer. The underlying stroma contains scattered small blood vessels and focal mild chronic inflammatory cells. There is no evidence of nuclear atypia, mitotic activity, necrosis, or malignancy.
