1- Duodenal mucosa show focal moderate villous atrophy associated intraepithelial lymphocytosis and crypt hyperplasia malignancwith submucosal mild infiltrate of lymphocytes and plasma cells. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
2- Intact colonic mucosa mildly infiltrated by lymphocytes and plasma cells with lymphoid follicles. Some Neutrophils are seen infiltrating glands this indicating activity, but there is no evidence of crypt abscesses. Mucigenic cells are mildly decreased. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Known Celiac disease presented for an endoscopy that revealed mucosal fissuring in the second part of the duodenum.
Two biopsies were received:
1- Duodenum: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.7 cm, totally embedded.
2- Colon: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.7 cm, totally embedded.
