A diffuse synovial tumor composed of proliferating fibroblasts, histiocytic cells (some are hemosiderin-laden) and scattered few multinucleated giant cells of the osteoclastic type. There are occasional lymphocytes. This is the diffuse form of giant cell tumor (villonodular synovitis).
Due to fragmentation, margins of excision could not be assessed.
A tissue specimen taken during the surgical repair of an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury is being submitted for histopathological examination.
